Ansen and his wife, Francine, started a small business in 1994 selling single roses in restaurants. The next step was to open a retail shop in Kempton Park. At the time the trading name was "Classic Flower Bunch"  This shop was closed when they relocated to Pretoria in 1997. They bought over "Pretoria Cut Flowers" a few years later. As a brand name, it was well known in the industry for the supply of flowers to supermarkets. In 2007 the retail shop in Pretoria moved from Moreletapark to Centurion. Commuting to the flower market in Johannesburg, plus the growing of our customer base in Jhb, urged us to also open a shop at the Multiflora Flower Market. To make logistics easier, it was convenient to have a shop on the first floor. When a shop was available on the main floor, the operations moved to the retail section of Multiflora. The shop next door was later also taken over. At the end of 2014, forces were joined with Bloomex flowers, and once again the business grew into bigger premises (still in the same mall) The name "Ansen Flowers" was created to incorporate all previous trading names like: Classic Flower Bunch, Valentine Fresh Cut Flowers, Flowersonline as well as Bloomex Flowers.
